Once configured, the Acuite integration with Primavera P6 can allow the Program/Time dashboards to display a summary view of the program information from your Primavera P6 file. This article details how you can enable and configure this integration.

If you manage the P6 service that will be connected to Acuite, we have additional details on what the integration requires and what we support in this article.

1: Enabling the Primavera P6 integration for your Acuite account

These first steps require that you have access to the System Settings page within Acuite. If you do not have this access, please contact your Acuite administrator for assistance.

Acuite maintains a list of active integrations:

  • If the P6 integration is not already in the list of active integrations, you can add it by clicking the 'Add Integration' button.

  • You can then chose Primavera P6 from the list of available integrations.

Once Primavera P6 has been added to the list of active integrations, you can set the default configuration for the integration.

  • First, click the 'Configure' button for the P6 integration.

  • You will then be asked to enter some required details for the P6 service that you use.

  • The P6 Web Service URL should point at the main collection endpoint for P6 Web Services. Typically this URL will end in /p6ws. If you are unsure what this URL should be, please contact Acuite and/or your P6 service provider.

  • The P6 User and Password should belong to an account with access to one or more programs in the P6 environment you are trying to access. Acuite will then connect to P6 on behalf of this user.

  • If required, we support an additional authentication step at a firewall level. If this is required, click on 'Configure Firewall' to add the additional credentials.

  • Once complete, we recommend that you click the Test Connection button to check that the details have been entered correctly, and that Acuite can connect to your P6 service. We will display a success or failure message depending on the results of the test.

Once this is complete, you can click Save to store these settings as the defaults. Later, when configuring individual projects, these settings can be re-used without needing to enter in URLs and passwords each time.

2: Setting up the Primavera P6 integration for your project

These steps require that you have access to the Project Settings pages for the project in question. If you do not have this access, please contact your Acuite administrators.

In Acuite, navigate to Project Settings > Integrations. Find Primavera P6 in the list of active integrations, and click Enable.

Note: If you do not see Primavera P6 in the list of active integrations, it may need to be activated at a global level, under the System Settings page (see step 1 on this page). If you do not have access to this area of Acuite, please contact your Acuite admins for assistance.

Once the P6 integration has been enabled for your project, press Configure.

2a: Connecting to P6

  • The Authentication details for P6 may have been entered and saved already at a global level. If so, you may see a screen like the following. In this case, you have the option of keeping those defaults and moving on to step 2b.

  • If not, you will need to fill in the details before you can proceed. These options are the same as for step 1 on this page.

2b: Choosing the Program

  • Go to the Sync Options tab and click Load Programs

  • Select the program that you want to sync with Acuite.

  • Select Sync Options: Time data (Program Tasks)

You can now click 'Save' to store your changes, and the P6 integration is ready to go.

Note that we won't automatically sync your program data into Acuite, that has to be triggered manually. However, at this point in the process, we will connect back to P6 to create Activity Codes for the selected program. These allow you to take advantage of our Plan Types system. More details on how to trigger a sync and on how the Activity Codes / Plan Types work, see this article.
