The Acuite - MS Project integration is provided as an add-in to MS Project which needs to be installed in the user’s environment. There are two versions: one for users installing the add-in on their own machines, and one for IT administrators installing the add-in on a Terminal Server (Remote Desktop Services) environment. Refer to this article for details on Terminal Server installation.
LOCAL INSTALLATION:
Requirements:
The user must be able to install software on their machine
Requires MS Project 2007 or higher (though 2010 and up is preferred)
Additional Notes:
Information on which programs are synced with Acuite is stored within the MS Project data file
When a file is linked with Acuite, we create two custom columns called ‘Acuite Plan Type’ and ‘Acuite Delay Type’. These columns can be added to the UI and any selected values are saved to file. In all other cases our add-in is read only and will not modify existing data.
When a file is linked with Acuite, or when a previously linked file is opened, the add-in will connect to the Acuite API and download the latest plan and delay types to populate these custom columns
When a linked project is saved, we will prompt the user to sync with Acuite. If requested, we will then send relevant data to our API
Relevant data includes the Task list and calendar information
There is an option to automatically sync on save, though we don’t recommend this for most projects as you may want to make multiple changes before syncing, plus it may impact the performance of MS Project
The add-in is loaded for all files opened with MS Project, however no action is taken unless the file contains a ‘sync key’ linking it to an Acuite project
The add-in has an auto-update feature, whereby it will periodically check for newer versions and prompt the user to upgrade.
Setup Process:
The installer for the add-in can be downloaded from https://app.acuite.io/integrations/ms-project/download-plugin
Run the installer once downloaded (note that MS Project should not be open while installing)
On running MS Project, you should see a new menu option called ‘Acuite’
More detail is available in this article.
