The Acuite - Microsoft Project integration is provided as an add-in to Microsoft Project which needs to be installed in the user’s environment.

There are two versions:

  • Local Installation - For individual users installing the add-in on their own machines

  • Terminal Server Installation - For IT administrators installing the add-in on a Terminal Server (Remote Desktop Services) environment. Refer to this article for details on Terminal Server installation.

IMPORTANT:

  • The user must be able to install software on their machine

  • Requires MS Project 2007 or higher (though MS Project 2010 and up is preferred)

  • Data pulled into Acuite: Time data (Tasks, calendars)

  • Data pushed into MS Project: Plan Types (custom column), Delay Types (custom column)

Setup Process

  1. Click here to download the Acuite MS Project ADD-IN.

  2. Locate the downloaded file and double-click to open it.

  3. Click "More Info" (or a similar option) to reveal the "Run Anyway" button.

  4. Select "Run Anyway"

  5. The installation wizard will appear. Click "Next"

  6. Click "Next" again

  7. Click "Next" once more

  8. Click "Close"

Additional Notes

  1. Sync Information Storage

    1. Sync details are stored within the MS Project data file.

  2. Custom Columns

    1. When a file is linked to Acuite, two custom columns are created: Acuite Plan Type and Acuite Delay Type.

    2. These can be added to the MS Project UI.

    3. Selected values are saved with the file.

    4. In all other cases, the add-in is read-only and does not modify data.

  3. Data Refresh from Acuite

    1. When a linked file is opened (or newly linked), the add-in connects to the Acuite API.

    2. It downloads the latest plan and delay types to populate the custom columns.

  4. Syncing on Save

    1. When a linked project is saved, the user is prompted to sync with Acuite.

    2. If confirmed, the following data is sent to the Acuite API:

      • Task list

      • Calendar information

  5. Auto Sync Option

    1. Users can enable auto-sync on save.

    2. Not recommended for most projects, as:

      • Multiple changes may need to be made before syncing.

      • It may impact MS Project performance.

  6. Add-in Activation

    1. The add-in loads with every file opened in MS Project.

    2. It only takes action if the file contains a sync key linked to an Acuite project.

  7. Auto-Update Feature

    1. The add-in periodically checks for newer versions.

    2. Users are prompted when an update is available.
