Control whether users can add additional items to the HSE dropdown lists

This article relates to HSE events that are entered directly in Acuite and are not synced from an integration.

It is possible to control whether you allow users to add additional items to the HSE cause, agency and contributing factor dropdown lists in the HSE Event form.  If you allow a user to add items to the list, they can do so by simply typing into the box and clicking the +Add..  button.

Unfortunately it means you may end up with the above scenario where there are two Contact with Electricity items that are almost the same.  The "Contact with electricity (Pending Approval)" shows the a user has entered this item and it is waiting for an admin user to "approve" their entry.  The item will show in the list and on the event form, but with a "Pending Approval" note next to it.

If you want to limit users to selecting the options that are already included in the list, and prohibit them from adding new items, you can do this within the permissions.  You will need to do this for the any/all permission groups.  This allows you to let some users add to the cause/agency/contributing factor lists, but not others.

Go to System Settings > Permissions.

Select Allow/Deny  for each permission group as required.
