When you add a defect and pin it to a location on a drawing, it will be marked on the drawing with a circle.  If the sub-contractor has been set up with a trade, the defect will be assigned with a trade in the circle (with the initials of the trade, eg "RS" for reinforcing, "CN" for concrete etc).

This is useful when looking at a drawing to get an overview of the types of defects in the one location.

If you click on the circle (eg, 1), you will see a summary of the defect at the bottom of the drawing (2).

To set up a trade for the sub-contractor, go to the project settings menu and click Companies (3).

Find the name of the sub-contractor in the companies list and click the Edit button (4).

Click on the Trades box and select a trade from the dropdown list.  The trades in this dropdown list is set up in the system settings menu.  Contact your system administrator if you want any additional trades added to this list.

Click the Save button.

To add a new defect go to Quality > Defects.

For detailed instructions on how to add a defect, this this article.

When you add a new defect, pin the location on the drawing, and assign it to that sub-contractor, you will see that the defect now has that trade initial added in the circle.
