Once a defect has been added and assigned to a sub-contractor to fix, the sub-contractor will receive an email alert, advising them that they have a defect. Once they've fixed the issue, the defect is ready to be closed out. This can be done by the sub-contractor themselves, or more likely, by the main contractor.

NOTE: when a main contractor is updating the defect, it can be closed out by anyone from the main contractor that has access to the project.

The defect will appear with the status of "Open" on the defects dashboard.

The sub-contractor or the main contractor can edit the defect by clicking on it, opening the dialog box and clicking on the speech bubble to add some notes pertaining to the defect fix. An "after" photo can also be added by clicking on the camera icon.

The comment will be added in the box.

Once comments have been added, scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the Submit button (if it's an assignee updating the defect" or Close Out/Reject button.

If you click the Reject button, the defect will be re-assigned back to the previous assignee.  eg, if the sub-contractor marks the defect as fixed (by clicking the "Submit" button), but the main contractor rejects it, the defect will continue to be assigned to the sub-contractor.

Once the defect has been closed out by the sub-contractor then it will go back to the main contractor to close. The main contractor will get a "For my Action" alert on their dashboard.

Alternatively, if the main contractor is closing the defect on behalf of the
sub-contractor, he/she can do this directly from the project dashboard by clicking on the "open" status.

The status will then change to "Closed".
